This diptych work is inspired by the changing colours and light of the Dutch seaside landscape in the summer time. This landscape is painted with palette knives in soft turquoise, blue, pink, ochre, grey and white. Built with many layers of acrylic and oil, the surface combines thick impasto and delicate crackle textures, with details that reveal themselves as you look closer.
The work is a diptych of two 30 × 30 cm gallery-wrapped canvases with 4 cm deep edges. The painting continues around the sides and is ready to hang without framing.
