“Echoes of the Water Garden” is part of my Water Garden series, inspired by my daily walks along the water and through gardens. There is something about watching the water garden change with the seasons - the light, the reflections, the waterlily pads- while its quiet beauty somehow remains the same. Whether the day is bright with sunlight or softened by rain, the garden always seems to invite you to slow down and look a little longer. The water carries a sense of stillness and calm, while the waterlilies bring a feeling of beauty, renewal, and quiet energy.
As with much of my work, the surface is as important to me as the image itself. I created the painting entirely with palette knives, building the underlying layers with acrylic, textured ceramic stucco before adding the final layers of oil paint. The interplay of these materials creates a rich, tactile surface where the colours and textures reveal themselves differently as the light changes - something that is difficult to fully capture in a photograph.
The painting is finished with a UV-protective varnish. The sides and edges are painted as an extension of the artwork, and it is painted on a 4 cm deep gallery-wrapped canvas, ready to hang. The artwork is signed on the side and comes with a certificate of authenticity signed by me.
