Blue Rhapsody is an abstract landscape built from layers of blue and green. Painted entirely with palette knives, the thick, textured surface creates a sense of depth and movement. Layers and layers of paint lie beneath the surface, with details that are difficult to fully appreciate in photographs and reveal themselves more closely in person.
Some viewers see a waterfall, while others see a walk through a forest. I like leaving that open. There is no single story to the painting-each viewer can find their own landscape, memory or feeling in it.
The painting is built in several thick layers, giving the surface a strong, earthy texture. The sides and edges are painted and extended as part of the artwork.
